Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered into a search box are sent to the outside provider that supplies its results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information included in your message and use it to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting services create routine logs, such as an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We review grouped information to operate and improve the reference. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and, when used, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
We use this limited information to run the service, correct technical problems, measure traffic, and improve content. We do not sell a list of visitors or create individual visitor profiles.
External Websites
Links may lead to Town, Suffolk County, New York State, library, archive, and outside search services. The policy of the destination, rather than this policy, controls information submitted there. That includes sponsored results supplied by a third party.
Service Providers and Disclosures
Providers that host or support the reference may process server-log information for us. Analytics and advertising providers can receive the automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires disclosure and not otherwise.
Data Safeguards
The reference uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the purposes described above. Because it does not provide accounts, it does not maintain a visitor password or account profile.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor provided information, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data a website holds about you. No enacted New York universal consumer-privacy deletion law was identified in the research; the proposed New York Privacy Act, S3044, remains in committee. Because this reference keeps very little, a request normally concerns the contact mailbox or routine logs. Use the Contact page to ask. New York public records, including those governed by the Freedom of Information Law in Public Officers Law Article 6, remain under the control of their custodians, who handle correction or access requests.
Policy Changes
A revised policy will be posted here. Continued use following a posted revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
